GODSPEED is a sound art performance by Andrea Corradi, presented at Ars Electronica 2024, which explores the Doppler shift phenomenon through a unique auditory experience. A bike equipped with speakers will lap around the hello yellow Velodrom by Schachermayer, creating harmonic shifts in real time which will alter the perception of sound through motion.
As the bike travels, the sound waves change frequency, providing a live experience of the Doppler effect, a concept that explains why the pitch of sound shifts as the source moves closer or farther away from the listener. Corradi transforms this scientific principle into an artistic performance, using the motion of the bike to craft evolving soundscapes.
This performance invites attendees to explore how the Doppler effect reshapes our auditory experience, highlighting the intersection of science and art. Don’t miss the chance to immerse yourself in the kinetic sounds of GODSPEED at the hello yellow Velodrom by Schachermayer in the Linz harbor area, Thursday 5 & Friday 6 September at 7 pm.
