Is Linz beautiful?

Is Linz beau­ti­ful? In May 2006 the peo­ple of Linz were asked were asked this ques­tion by the „Linz 2009 GmbH”. One could answer with YES, NO or IT DEPENDS. qujOchÖ takes this ques­tion to heart. The answer log­i­cal­ly is this strange IT DEPENDS.

Fol­low­ing the call that con­tri­bu­tion is wel­come, qujOchÖ decid­ed to make a small but fine “beau­ti­fi­ca­tion cam­paign”. Tar­get was the mobile flood pro­tec­tion dam in Linz-Urfahr. It was a crime that art has been com­plete­ly for­got­ten there.

A wel­come oppor­tu­ni­ty to dec­o­rate the con­crete wall in an urban cen­ter with an artis­tic inter­ven­tion. Armed with retro pho­to wall­pa­per from the 1980s, paste and wall­pa­per brush, on an easy Sat­ur­day morn­ing, qujOchÖ swarmed out to make Linz a lit­tle bit nicer.

The result which one could see also from far away was doc­u­ment­ed pho­to­graph­i­cal­ly and cin­e­mat­i­cal­ly and a nice post­card was made with a dif­fer­ent view on Linz than the Pöstling­berg, Lentos und Haupt­platz. The inter­ven­tion was also sup­port­ed, as you can see in the video by the police of Linz.

The artis­tic inter­ven­tion calls the ques­tion about an aes­thet­ic judge­ment (“Is Linz beau­ti­ful?) into ques­tion with easy means.
